Britain’s newest steam train visit shelved – Daily Post

The Tornado was due to haul the Ynys Mon Express from Crewe to Holyhead on Saturday, but there’s a problem …

Britain’s newest steam locomotive will not be running along the North Wales main line this weekend – because it’s broken.

The Ynys Môn Express, a special excursion train, was due to have run from Crewe to Holyhead next Saturday hauled by 60163 Tornado.

But the loco, which was only completed in 2009, broke down while running on the East Coast Main Line a week ago during a high speed run from London to York and has been taken into the workshops for repair. Britain’s newest steam train visit shelved – Daily Post
