CAMPAIGNERS fear a new rail freight service between the Port of Liverpool and Scotland will not be enough to reduce the volume of wagons travelling through south Sefton to the docks.
Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram officially launched the departure of the inaugural rail journey last week, which sent goods from the Port of Liverpool to Mossend terminal in Glasgow.
Peel have said the new rail service will reduce the amount of wagons travelling through Seaforth, and provide shipping lines, forwarders, tank operators and cargo-owners with a seamless route between the quayside at Liverpool2 and Scotland.
