Charity’s bid to bring historic Derby diesel loco back to life – Derbyshire Live
Society is aiming to build, exhibit and operate a re-creation of LMS 10000
Our recent photo taken at the launch of Britain’s first mainline diesel locomotive, LMS No. 10000, at Derby Loco Works in December 1947, prompted Andrew Hoseason to get in touch.
Andrew is secretary of the Ivatt Diesel Re-creation Society, a registered charity set up to bring Derby’s historic locomotive back to life.
The society is aiming to build, exhibit and operate a re-creation of LMS 10000 throughout Britain based at the Peak Railway between Matlock and Rowsley South.
Mr Hoseason said: “We are using the same model 16SVT English Electric engine as 10000. It is in nearly new condition and hardly run despite being 60 years old. Charity’s bid to bring historic Derby diesel loco back to life – Derbyshire Live
