Work begins on new Robroyston railway station
ScotRail has announced that work has begun on the new Robroyston railway station, which will serve a 1,600 development around the site.
The design and build contract has been awarded to AmcoGiffen.
The station is located between Stepps and Springburn on the Glasgow to Cumbernauld line, with the station including step-free access, two car parks, and a new park and ride facility.
Clearance work has already begun with vegetation clearance completed and ground investigations underway.
It is expected that the new station will open in December 2019.
Michael Matheson, Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure and Connectivity said:
“This contract award for Robroyston Station is the latest example of our continuing investment in rail infrastructure and services to better connect our communities. It will be Glasgow’s 60th rail station and provide a gateway to the east for the residents of Robroyston and Millerston. Work begins on new Robroyston railway station
